3 Free and Fun Things To Do in Philly

Philadelphia is full of rich history, educational attractions, and cultural opportunities. And the great thing about many of these Philly must-sees is that they don’t cost visitors anything more than your time. We at Orthodox Auto Company, a Philadelphia family-owned and –operated car rental business, want to highlight three free Philly activities.

1. The Liberty Bell

Displayed in the new Liberty Bell Center, you can see one of the greatest symbols of American freedom: the Liberty Bell. You can get an up-close look at the cracked bell and check out the many exhibits that guide you through the history of the Liberty Bell and much more. The Liberty Bell Center in downtown Philadelphia does not require tickets for entrance. Just stop in between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to request a tour.

2. The United States Mint

How great that you can see U.S. currency being made without paying a cent? The United States Mint in Philly is America’s first coining mint. You can take a free, self-guided tour of the facility and watch money being made from an observation area above the factory level. Both audio and visual displays give you an overview of the history of U.S. currency.

3. Institute of Contemporary Art

Located in the University City neighborhood of Philly, the Institute of Contemporary Art now features free admission to Philadelphia residents and visitors. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, with varying hours each day, so be sure to check the museum website before you go. Public parking for your car rental is available next to the art museum.

In Philadelphia and greater Pennsylvania, you can experience everything from past traditions to forward-thinking trends. These free attractions offer just a peek into what all that our great city and state has to offer.
