Events & Attractions

The Fourth of July festivities—also called the July 4th Celebration of Freedom—kick off with the Celebration of Freedom Ceremony at 10 a.m. and is quickly followed by the Independence Day Parade. The parade is an annual tradition that features multiple floats and over 5,000 participants. You don’t want to miss it!

From there, you can enjoy numerous musical events throughout the afternoon and evening. Check out the Party on the Parkway—located on Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philly. This all-day event features local food, drinks, vendors, music, and more. You can also head over to the Philly 4th of July Jam, which is a free outdoor concert featuring The Roots and other special performers.

All events come to a close when it’s time for the Grand Finale Fireworks. Philadelphia stops to enjoy the spectacular fireworks display—honoring the country’s freedom in the heart of America’s birthplace.

Getting There

We recommend picking up your car rental the night before so you can get an early, fresh start the next day. Even if you don’t love early mornings, you’ll be glad you started early instead of braving the crowds as the day continues.
